Growing up being half black/ half Panamanian it was hard for me to find a group of friends that I could identify with. I was not “black” enough to hang out with the black kids or “hispanic” enough to hang out with the hispanic kids and their weren’t any other Afro/ latino kids that I knew.

A time when I noticed that there was a lack of diversity at VCU was during my freshman year when I was attending lecture for my General Chemistry class.
